Request for information regarding the potential appointment of an operator for the Belmont Cinema and Media Centre. We are market testing for an operator for the Belmont Cinema and media centre. The Centre, which is owned by Aberdeen City Council, is situated on Belmont Street, the property comprises a three screen cinema, with seating for 272, 146 and 67 persons, café/bar with catering facilities, kiosk shop, offices and seminar rooms. The cinema was operated by Belmont Filmhouse until October 2022, at which point the venue closed following the parent company CMI' collapse into administration. To support a tender for operations a feasibility report was commissioned with recommendations on potential models. The report and supporting documents are available as part of the market testing. ‘critical success factors’ an operator will need to deliver on include prioritising the customer experience, providing a curated film programme that is accessible, and responsive to needs of local audiences, provision of quality food/ beverage offer and investment in the building. A re-launched Belmont must focus and prioritise on improving the overall visitor experience and provide attractive food and beverage service as part of the offer. Creating an inclusive quality experience will attract more attendance beyond the core audience already bound to The Belmont by loyalty or film choice, but whose custom may make a significant difference to long-term financial sustainability.
