The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage are seeking quotations for ten days helicopter airlifting of materials at the Wild Nephin National Park and the Connemara National Park

Tender description

The contract is for ten days airlifting of material by helicopter airlift in Wild Nephin National Park (Co. Mayo) and Connemara National Park (Co. Galway). Tenders are being sought for a day rate for operation from airlifting materials between the hours of 1000hrs and 1500hrs on any day from these locations. This day rate shall include the travel cost from the contractor’s base to and from the airlift locations, but the travel time will not form part of the operation time (1000hrs to 1500hrs) for airlifting. All materials will be prepared by National Park staff in advance of an airlift. All materials including airlift bags will be supplied by the National Parks & Wildlife Service except where helicopter airlift bags are required to be of a higher specification standard than the standard tonne bags, this cost should be included in the quotation and the higher specification bags where required must then be supplied by the tenderer. The maximum load per lift will be a half tonne and the successful tenderer will be expected to lift up to this maximum. Materials may include stone, gravel and timber. Airlift drop off points will generally not exceed 10 kilometres from the two specified base locations. The ten airlift days may not be consecutive and will depend on weather conditions at the locations. The National Parks & Wildlife Service will provide a minimum of two days’ notice before requesting an airlift day.
