Planning for Self Employment Training Courses

MID proposes to host a number of “Planning for Self Employment” training courses (18 hours in duration). It is proposed that each course will be delivered in three-hour sessions (10am- 1pm) over a three-week period. This training is specifically aimed at unemployed individuals who have identified a business idea. A resilience workshop will also form part of the training course. The aim of this workshop is to help prepare individuals who are considering self-employment as a career path to be in a stronger position to address unforeseen events and have the motivation, knowledge, skills and confidence to adjust their business model accordingly to ensure the sustainability of their business. It will address topics such as mind-set, stress management and coping skills. Each workshop will last 3 hours and suggested topics may include: • The Importance of Communication • Developing the Skills & Tools to adapt to a changing environment • Increasing self-awareness – having empathy and self-compassion • Motivation • Setting personal & Business goals • Coping Skills • Increasing self-confidence and sense of well-being • Having the courage and Self-belief to change • Mindset • Stress Management • Identifying the range of skills required to succeed in business • Acknowledging the importance of diet, sleep and exercise • Recognising the importance of work–life balance
