SEND Mediation Service

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) mediation service is a statutory service under the Children and Families Act 2014. The service must be delivered by a provider independent to the council. The mediation service is integral to preventing the need for residents to take the council to tribunal, which can be a stressful experience for families and costly to the council. The service prevents tribunal by providing disagreement resolution sessions which can be accessed by residents when the council has made a decision not to draw up an education, health and care plan for a young person, or because of a decision the council has made about the contents of a young person’s education, health and care plan.
