Domestic Abuse needs assessment on 10-25 year olds in Hampshire County Council

The Hampshire Domestic Abuse Safe Accommodation Needs Assessment (2021) identified that there is a lack of data available locally on adolescents engaged in domestic abuse either as victims and/or causing harm. In addition, the rapid literature review on child and adolescent to parent violence and abuse for the Domestic Abuse Commissioner's Office (2021) located at Review-Full-November-2021-Baker-and-Bonnick.pdf stated that parents experiencing abuse by an adolescent often feel high levels of shame and hopelessness, which can act as a barrier to help-seeking, leading to continued and often escalating abuse. Due to this type of abuse being particularly stigmatised and unrecognised, this social problem is challenging to measure and address respectively. Despite young people being referred to the locally commissioned domestic abuse services, uptake following referral has been challenging particularly for the 16-18 year old age group. Request to quote was sought in September 2022 for chosen providers to quote for the provision of this service, the return date received 0 bids and the option to direct award the service was taken.
