Tender description

The proposed contract consists of two parts, a new MacMillan Cancer Support centre and the partial refurbishment of the existing Agnes Jones House. The new support centre is a single storey building having an approximate gross floor area of 260m2. The new building consists of: traditional foundations with reinforced concrete ground floor slab; a structural steel frame with a composite external envelope with a mixture of rendered and rain-screen finish supported on an insulated metal studded framework; internal plasterboard skin; aluminium clad timber reversible windows and matching external doors. The roof consists of both pitched and flat roof design, with timber rafters; insulated panels and both roof tile and single membrane coverings, rainwater goods and accessories. Internally there are masonry sub-division walls, internal doors; internal finishings consist of plastered and painted walls, vinyl sheet and carpet flooring with associated skirtings, suspended and MF ceilings as well as fittings & furnishings. The mechanical and electrical services installations include underfloor heating, power, lighting, data, BMS and security. The external works consist of both hard and soft landscaping, a small amount of car parking and reinstatement of disturbed roadways. The drainage works include for new foul and storm systems connected into the existing drainage system. The refurbishment of the existing Agnes Jones house, having a total approximate gross floor area of 618m2, includes for repairs to the external envelope including a new slate roof covering, insulation and associated works, the removal of any asbestos, wet & dry rot and raising damp treatment and associated repairs, minor alterations to the internal layout, the provision of new heating, electrical, data and security installations, up-grading to of the internal fabric to comply with current statutory regulations, making good finishings disturbed, new floor finishings and redecoration.
