Tender description

The West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) NHS Trust has been awarded the contract for the provision of Non-Emergency Patient Transport Taxi Renal Services by Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust (PCT). This tender exercise will result in the appointment of a sub-contractor to provide these services on behalf of WMAS. The taxi renal services are to be provided to the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust and the main locations to be served are: 1. Walsall Renal Unit (WS2 9XH) 2. Tipton Renal Unit (DY4 7AA) 3. New Cross Hospital (WV10 0QP) 4. Cannock Renal Unit (WS11 5XY) 5. New Renal Unit Pond Lane (WV2 1HG) Renal patients may travel from both within and outside a 12 mile radius of Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital and will need treatment on a regular basis, usually three times each week. The treatment will involve the use of a dialysis machine, and treatment therefore may take up to five hours, but this will depend on the condition of each patient. Treatment is undertaken over 363 days per year (the exceptions are usually Christmas Day and New Years Day), and patients are transported from their home and usually taken back to their home after treatment.
