Quantitative Modelling Standing Capacity

Tender description

The aim is to procure services to develop and maintain a Quantitative Modelling Standing Capacity (QMSC) Framework agreement for the following exotic animal diseases: 1. Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD); and 2. Exotic pig diseases: Classical Swine Fever (CSF), African Swine Fever (ASF) and Swine Vesicular Disease (SVD). The procurement is being carried out to meet the requirements that came out of the formal enquiries in both 2001 and 2007 for the Foot and Mouth Disease. Recommendations were made on how the application of quantitative modelling tools, teams and techniques could assist both during and between outbreaks, these include: • The updating and maintenance of cost benefit analyses of FMD control strategies. • The need to provide evidence to support discussion on emergency vaccination ensuring that all of the issues are communicated clearly and properly explained. • An increase in the level of technical and scientific expertise available to contribute to the development of disease control policies on a day to day basis, not just during a disease outbreak. • The need for transparency in publishing scientific advice and risk assessments to strengthen confidence in disease management outbreak. • Improvements in data and information quality and flow.
