Tender description

PSNI Provision of National Offender Re-Training Schemes and Local Driver Education Courses in Northern Ireland Attendance on a National Driver Offender Re-training Scheme is offered to members of the public who would benefit from improving their driving attitudes and skills (course dependant) following a police intervention. The identified drivers then may be offered the opportunity to attend a course as a voluntary alternative to their offence being dealt with through the Criminal Justice System. The Scheme has to be attractive both in terms of affordability and time so to ensure that offending drivers are provided with the relevant re-training to enable them to improve their attitudes, driving skills and road awareness with the outcome of improving road safety. A National Model Programme has been established via ACPO/NDORS. All Service Providers must adhere and conform to the National Models. The National Association of Driver Intervention Providers (NADIP) is a voluntary membership association which Service Providers may choose to join, there is no compulsion. The PSNI have participated in the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme since 2005 and continue to collaborate with other Police Services to develop research and evaluate national course models. The intention is to ensure the Scheme operated on behalf of all Police Services of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland conforms to one common standard.
