Hazardous Tree Survey Please note the PQQ return date and time of 1500 hours on Thursday 9 August 2012 Background Translink is the brand name for the public transport operating companies in Northern Ireland. These include the companies of Ulsterbus, Metro, Northern Ireland Railways and NITHC. NI Railways operate passenger services across the rail network made up of the following lines: • Bangor - Belfast • Belfast - Border • Belfast - Larne • Belfast - Derry • Coleraine - Portrush • Lisburn - Antrim The aim of this tender exercise is to appoint a suitably qualified contractor that will complete a survey of lineside vegetation across the entire NI Railways network. The main aim of the survey is the identification of all trees that represent a potential hazard to the safe operation of trains, and trees that have the potential for impact on the operation of services. Scope: Hazardous Tree Survey The project is to include the following: • Visual tree assessment of all trees • Individual hazard assessment of any tree over that pose a risk to the safety of the railway or its neighbours. • Use of a recording the risk assessment system – such as the THREATs system (© FLAC) or alternative and tagging of each tree or group of trees • Indication of the total tree count on Northern Ireland Railways property • Leaf fall risk assessment for the network using an approved risk assessment system Type and Contract Period Translink intends to enter into a term service contract for the works. This contract will run for a single year with an option for three further single year extensions. If the option for extension to the contract is required by the Employer the Framework prices will be inflated as per the terms of the contract.
