Our vision is to improve the health and well-being for people of all ages across the Black Country. We care for and support people of all ages who have mental health needs. The Trust is nearing completion of the development of a 36 bed acute mental health unit plus 16 bed older adults unit on the site of Penn Hospital, Penn Road, Wolverhampton. The development of the hospital will ensure that the environment is: • Aesthetically pleasing • Welcoming and re-assuring • Accessible • Functionally Suitable • Considerate to Green Issues • Safe and secure for Patients, Visitors and Staff • Compliant with NHS technical legislation • Compliant with Statutory legislation This will provide a modern compliant inpatient unit providing single en-suite bedrooms and a variety of functionally suitable therapy, activity and support spaces. The proposed layouts are to maximise observation, security, patient safety, gender segregation and space utilisation. All patient areas are to be designed carefully to eliminate ligature and infection control risks where practical to do so, but consideration is to be given to how the environment impacts on the patient experience and that the design should provide a homely and non-institutional feel. The tender is divided into 2 lots: Lot 1-Furniture and Lot 2-Soft Furnishings. Applications will be accepted for one or both lots. Please note that the delivery date for items for phase 1A will be week commencing 19th November 2012 for the Acute Adult Male and 10th December 2012 for the Older Adults Ward. There will be an opportunity for a Q & A session on Tuesday 9th October 2012, on site at Penn Hospital, between 1pm and 4pm.
