The Department is currently developing proposals for public transport reform and has just completed a public consultation on the proposals. Among the reforms were proposals to establish a public transport agency within DRD and for associated legislative reforms. These documents sets out the requirements for an assignment to develop an IS/IT Strategy to support the business needs of the proposed public transport agency and the wider need for intelligent transportation systems (ITS) that would improve the customer experience of using public transport and promote its greater use. The IS/IT Strategy for public transportation systems will be required regardless of how the reform proposals are finally implemented.
