Tender description

Following orthopaedic procedures, some patients require a “Non Weight Bearing” (NWB) period when they cannot apply pressure to (usually) the limb that has been compromised. Where patients are assessed as unable to return to their previous home during the NWB period, an alternative to acute hospital care is required. (The need for the service arose originally on the closure of several community hospitals in the Hastings and Eastbourne areas.) Only those patients for whom a successful rehabilitation is a possible and likely outcome are considered for the scheme, the main emphasis of the service being on rehabilitation. The Commissioner wishes to commission a service from Provider(s) which provides beds, care and re-ablement support for the patients during their NWB period. The estimated contract values stated are for the total of the 3-year contract term.
