Ground Investigation for the design stage of the N3 M50 to Clonee Road Scheme

Fingal County Council are seeking to carry out a Ground Investigation for the design stage of the N3 M50 to Clonee Road Scheme. The N3 scheme involves the upgrade of the existing N3 Dual Carriageway from two to three lanes between the M50/N3 Interchange and the commencement of the M3 motorway at Clonee. The proposed works include central median widening and an upgrade of junctions at Clonee East and West. The Ground Investigation is to include trial pits, shallow boreholes, rotary follow-ons, pavement cores and falling weight deflectometers along the 6.8km proposed scheme as show on the contract drawings. The scope also includes for instrumentation, monitoring, sampling, in-situ testing and geotechnical laboratory testing. The purpose of this investigation is to establish the ground profile across the site to produce a robust and comprehensive “Factual Report” on ground conditions (including contamination) to allow progression of the design.
