T22-103HCO Scoping of Capital Projects across the Rural Area of Derry City and Strabane District Council

Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) require a Consultant to provide support in relation to Scoping of Capital Projects led by Community Sector across the Rural Derry City Council Area. DCSDC has developed Local Growth Partnerships in each of the District Electoral Areas within the Council area. Faughan, Sperrin and Derg are three rural DEAs (District Electoral Areas). The role of these partnerships is to oversee the implementation of individual Local Community Growth Plans specific to each area. These Local Growth Plans include a number of themes aligned to the Strategic Growth Plan for the Derry City and Strabane District Council area. The three Local Growth Partnerships recently undertook a Priority Action Planning process which highlighted a number of key priorities across all of the three rural DEAs. The report highlighted the significant strengths across our rural areas, but also the challenges of access to services including access to health and wellbeing services, youth services and human resources in relation to the development of community led projects. Specific issues across the rural areas were identified including the need for Community Development Resources and support to ensure implementation of a range of Capital Projects at an early stage of development. Programmes such as Peace Plus, the Community Ownership Fund and others provide opportunities to deliver on many of the priority actions identified. However it is imperative that those Capital project are in a state of readiness where suitable funding becomes available. Please refer to CfT documents for further details.
