The contract will be for cleaning sections of the open drain and canal using a mechanical tracked excavator. The system includes around 11 km of open drain. Of this around 1 km is stone lined or inaccessible. 6 km of drain is to be cleaned during the first year of the contract; tenders are based on this amount. In subsequent years it is expected that RPID would identify only around 2 km for cleaning.
