The upgrade of the passenger and goods lift for the RHA

The RHA has experienced ongoing maintenance issues with the lift which has resulted in the lift being out of order on several occasions. As a public building, the accessibility for visitors with mobility issues is an essential requirement and this project aims to ensure the reliability of the lift and access to all our visitors. KONE, lift care maintenance and repair specialists, have identified several essential works for the lift in order to ensure the reliable and safe operating condition of the lift. These works include: We recommend the following are upgraded, • The existing COP (car operating panel) and LOP’s (landing operating push stations) are upgraded due to the existing call buttons being obsolete. • The existing shaft lighting. • The oil pots on the main car guides. • Upgrade the existing lift car lighting with the addition of emergency lighting. The following hydraulic repairs to be carried out, • The pit brackets, hydraulic hoses and pit steel work are rusted after water and waste being present in the lift pit. The steel work in the pit area will need to be cleaned, treated and painted. • The 3 x hydraulic hose pipes and the splitter unit needs to be replaced. • The oil seals in one of the hydraulic rams is leaking. We recommend that the seals are replaced in both hydraulic rams. • The existing hydraulic oil to be replaced. We recommend the following works are carried out, • Relocate the pit ladder in the lift shaft to the opposite side to suit the pit stop switches. • Replace the missing isolation from the landing door closing springs. • A through clean down of the lift installation to be carried out.
