Star Air Conditioning Service and Maintenance Contract

The University of Edinburgh has appointed a supplier to maintain business critical Star chillers. An agreement is required to ensure the University's Star chiller units remain in operation, as these are critical for the core business of the University. Under regulation 6(1)(b)(ii), a contracting authority may award a public contract without seeking offers in relation to the proposed contract where the works, supplies or services can be supplied only by a particular economic operator because competition is absent for technical reasons. The ongoing operation of these chillers is critical to the core business of the university. As the equipment manufacturer, the supplier is able to provide factory supplied OEM parts which are necessary for these types of units.
