Scottish Prisons Assessment and Review of Outcomes for Women (SPAROW)

The Scottish Government’s Justice Analytical Services Division (JAS), wishes to commission, on behalf of the Scottish Prison Service (SPS), a research project to evaluate the implementation and early emerging outcomes of SPS’s new women’s Community Custody Units (CCUs). The two CCUs are an innovative new model of custody in Scotland, intended to support the needs of women who will benefit from closer community contact and access to local services, to create and sustain independence in preparation for successful reintegration into the community. Each CCU is comprised of a number of small accommodation units and a community hub where women can meet with visitors and a range of services and activities will be delivered.
