A LEADER Cooperation Coordination Project on the optimum way to minimise food waste in County Kilkenny, (in cooperation with Slovenian partners) & to create a social enterprise from the residue.

The Coordination project involves Kilkenny LEADER Partnership, the EU LEADER Local Action Group (LAG) for the territory, its local partner 3-CEA (the regional energy agency), and other LEADER LAGs in Slovenia. The partners are developing a LEADER Cooperation Project in their respective territories to address the issue of how to best minimise food waste and the optimum method to use the residue waste and its by-products to a social/ community enterprise benefit, such as the sale of potential energy and marketing and sale of compost/ soil enrichment mediums. It is accepted by the partners that this project is at least a three-stage process of: 1. Analysis, research, and development of the optimum options to the end goal 2. Training in logistical/ technical requirements and promotion to communities 3. Coordination of the above to the elements and liaison with KLP and other designated stakeholders. Tenders for each element of the overall project must be made separately. It is to the third element that this RFT applies. The duties on the Coordinator will include: • Local coordination of the overall project as described including project actions in the A&D and Training modules. • Liaison with KLP and its designated stakeholders on the planning and development of the project towards full implementation. • Organise, coordinate and participate in visits by stakeholders to project partners in Slovenia and elsewhere as necessary. • Provide supporting liaison and communication with communities and other stakeholders in Kilkenny to facilitate and lead the development of the business model. • Work in close cooperation with KLP on the administration, reporting and recording of the project from a LEADER funding stance. • Complete a final report of the development process. Kilkenny LEADER Partnership (KLP) and 3County Energy Agency (3CEA) in collaboration with colleague LEADER ‘Local Action Groups’ (LAGs) in Slovenia propose developing a LEADER Cooperation Project in their respective territories to address the issue of how to best minimise food waste. They also want to explore the optimum environmentally method to deal with the remaining waste and its by-products to a social/ community enterprise benefit, such as the sale of renewable energy and soil enrichers.
