Creative Health and Wellbeing Partnership & Arts Lab Project

Tender description

Since October 2019 Public Health, the Creative and Cultural Team, and the Recipient have worked together to facilitate the Creative, Health and Wellbeing Partnership. The Partnership has been successful in bringing together people from across public, creative and cultural and the wider voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. These include the chief executives of many of the major arts and cultural institutions in Cornwall and the chair of the CCG (from the 01 July 2022, now called the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board ( ICB)). Funding until 30th June 2022 came from a combination of Public Health and the Creative and Cultural Team, along with grant funding provided by the Contain Outbreak Management Fund. The Funding is a continuation of the infrastructure role which had been funded through COMF. There is strong evidence of the value of engaging in creative activity for health and wellbeing. There is evidence of the impact of creative approaches to specific health conditions e.g. lung health, Parkinson’s, dementia, chronic pain. Integrated care systems in Gloucestershire and West Yorkshire & Harrogate are already integrating creative health into their model of health and care and others are expected to follow suit. The National Centre for Creative Health is interested in supporting and disseminating these developments. Funding from Together for Families (Headstart Kernow) has provided a partnership between the Council, the Recipient and FEAST to provide creative projects and activities which address the aims of Headstart Kernow, focusing on: Young people aged between 10 and 16 in both school and community settings. Connecting young people to their local communities and giving them visibility and a voice. Addressing mental and emotional health needs of young people, with particular attention to the impact of the pandemic. Using the Five Ways to Wellbeing as a foundation for the creative projects.
