Tender description

Under the Strategic Skills priority, BIM aims to develop a highly capable, structured workforce with recognised standards and qualifications that are mapped onto the National Framework of Qualifications, with lifelong career paths. This is delivered through the BIM Skills Development Services Unit and the National Fisheries Colleges at Greencastle and Castletownbere, two mobile coastal training units and other regional locations, offering a range of programmes to support a professional sector. The BIM National Fisheries Colleges are approved by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport through the Marine Survey Office, to deliver approved Marine radio courses to the fishing industry. To enable the college to deliver these courses, it requires Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) radio simulators with ship controls and SAR (Search and Rescue exercise capability). BIM requires the following for National Fisheries College, Greencastle, Co. Donegal: The supply of four GMDSS student station simulators and one instructor GMDSS station, compliant with STCW 95 Code table A-IV/2, MERSAR Procedures and IAMSAR Manual vol III and can be used to deliver IMO Model Courses 1.25 (GOC) and 1.26 (ROC). The Simulator must have current DNV certification. The Simulator must also include the ability to run SAR exercises using electronic charts and virtual vessel manoeuvring controls that are fully integrated with the radio simulator.
