Dublin Mountains Community Archaeologist 2022

Tender description

The Dublin Mountains Community Archaeologist 2022 will work closely with the Dublin Mountains Partnership (DMP) Recreation Manager and South Dublin County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Heritage Officers to provide community archaeologist services to the Dublin Mountains region for a contract of service period of 6 months duration. The role will include promoting awareness, protection, knowledge and understanding of the Dublin Uplands archaeological landscape among individuals and community groups living, working and recreating in the Dublin Mountains region. This will include rolling out in-person training on the archaeology of the Dublin Mountains to user groups, DMP Volunteer Rangers and other interest groups, outreach to schools, local communities and key recreational user groups in the Dublin Mountains region. The successful applicant will lead/present archaeological walks/talks in association with events such as Heritage Week, and liaise with relevant state agencies, communities, and other property owners to assess opportunities for access to important archaeological features. The Community Archaeologist will also engage with/provide advice to groups interested in progressing community-led projects, improving archaeology access and/or interpretation.
