WP3823 - Development and production of an economic strategy for Walsall

Walsall Council and the borough itself are at an exciting point in terms of its growth, regeneration and economic development. Against a backdrop of significant capital support from Town Deal (?42.6m) and Future High Streets Fund (?11.4m in a ?37m Council cofounded scheme) and ahead of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund investment work, this is an ideal time to revisit and analyse the local and regional economy, with a view to developing an implementation plan to which the Council, and its partners in the public and private sector, can deliver. Recent challenges of Covid and exit from the Economic Union have added to the ongoing challenges of ensuring that we have an appropriately skilled workforce, healthy population and that we are enabling an environment where people and businesses can live, invest and enjoy leisure time. We need to support all of our district centres to join up and benefit from any economic successes we can create, although we are also looking to consolidate our position through the Town Centre Masterplan which will drive the catalytic interventions required to boost the economy and repurpose our town centre to meet today's needs. Suppliers are invited to submit Quotes to create and deliver an economic strategy that does not shy away from the challenges, is bold and aspirational, but is grounded in sound evidence and analysis and developed by working with stakeholders and partners to ensure that we have the right partnerships and support to create real change in the borough.
