Tender description

The objective of the Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme (RDGS) is to provide eligible people, regardless of status, with access to accommodation in the private rented housing sector within the East Ayrshire area, whilst meeting East Ayrshire Council’s strategic objectives as stated in the Community Plan, Local Housing Strategy and Homeless Persons Strategy. Suppliers will be working with landlords to identify suitable properties for the scheme and matching tenants to suitable housing. The service will be charged at one unit cost for each sign up. The strategy is to have a supplementary supply of housing from the private rented sector to assist EAC to meet its legislative requirements in terms of homelessness. The need for a deposit was a barrier to some people obtaining a housing solution in the private rented sector. Therefore this scheme secured the guarantee of a deposit to the landlord at the start of the tenancy and during the tenancy the tenant saved towards the sum of a deposit.
