Tender description

CLASSF Exemption review Bath and North East Somerset Council are looking for a genealogy service to carry out annual review of properties that have been empty for six months and over, with a CLASSF Council Tax exemption. To qualify for the exemption, (a) the owner of the property must be deceased and (b) the property must be empty and (c) no grant of probate has been obtained. The annual review will aim to: • Identify the executors or next of kin for deceased estate so assistance from the Empty Property Service can be offered and issues concerning the empty property be resolved. • Identify cases that are not in fact eligible for the CLASSF exemption because a grant of probate has been out for longer than six months, or because the property is occupied. Where no grant of probate has been applied for and no action has been taken regarding the property, the agency will work to identify and locate the relevant people. They will then invite them to consider their services in carrying out the administration and distribution of the deceased owner’s estate. If they retain the services of the agency, fees can be agreed with them accordingly. The overarching objective for the Council is to bring empty properties back into use by providing support and to ensure the information held by the Council Tax records is correct so the right Council Tax is being charged I every case. If your organisation is interested in carrying out this CLASSF annual review, please upload a proposal in in response to this advert.
Keywords: Empty property, Deceased estates, CLASSF Council Tax exemption, Tracing agents
