Getting Court - Awareness Project for Young People

Tender description

3.1.1 Following agreement between Devon & Cornwall Police, the Office of Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC), Her Majesty’s Court and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) and the High Sherriff of Devon agreement was reached to progress the development of a court awareness project for young people in Devon & Cornwall. 3.1.2 A strategic partner is sought to initially launch a pilot education and awareness project for young people from across Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly. The project would focus on bringing students face to face with a working court and the wider criminal justice system improving understanding, confidence, and trust in the criminal justice system. If after review and analysis the pilot project is deemed to have been successful the extension of the project and identification of future funding will be subject to discussion and approval through the Local Criminal Justice Board. The pilot project will be trauma informed with appropriate safeguarding methods and referral mechanisms in place to support attendees of the initiative. Creating an experience that is safe for that cohort would be essential. A provider is sought to initially deliver a 12 month pilot “Getting Court awareness project” for young people from across Devon and Cornwall with the potential for extension of the approach for a period of upto a further two years subject to successful delivery of the pilot Outcomes AND confirmation of adequate funding availability. The below outlines the scope and objectives shaped through discussions between core project stakeholders via the Local Criminal Justice Board (LCJB).
