2. The contract is required to deliver the occupational health (OH) services providing professional medical advice to the council so the council can more effectively manage its workforce and fulfil related statutory obligations such as our duty as an employer to consider putting in place reasonable adjustments for staff whose medical conditions may fall within the provisions of the Equality Act with regard to disability. The principal services provided are pre-employment health checks and medical assessments supporting the management of sickness and health in the workplace. In addition a range of other services are provided; for example, pre-employment screening, return to work assessments, health screening and occupational risk assessments. This is in addition to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) service for health promotion activities, support services and employee counselling. The EAP service is provided by use of a web based platform in terms of accessing services and receipt of information. Both the OH and EAP services are supported by helplines.
