Tender description

Overweight and obesity presents a major challenge to the current and future health of the local population. Higher Body Mass Index (BMI) is associated with an increased risk of morbidity and mortality from a range of conditions and contributes to increased health and social care costs. Tackling the obesity rates in Northamptonshire and providing weight management support is a key element of Northamptonshire Public Health’s efforts to improve health and wellbeing in the adult population as cited in the 2020 Northampton Health, Care and Wellbeing Plan. Lot 1: The successful Provider(s) shall establish and deliver a 12 session programme within a 15-week window of evidence-based support for people to reduce and continue to manage their weight. This must include weekly coaching support and where necessary be suitable for groups of people with a variety of additional needs. The programme should include, but is not limited to: Evidence-based advice, information and support to manage weight and maintain a healthy weight. Evidence-based advice and information on safe and appropriate levels of physical activity. Evidence-based advice and information on healthy eating, including food buying, storing and preparation, and this is culturally appropriate to a diversity of groups; Marketing and recruitment plan.
