Wrexham Central Platform Extension

Tender description

1.3 The project is required to deliver the infrastructure needed to support the introduction of a 3-car Class 230 passenger services at Wrexham Central Station (not included within the scope of this contract). Proposed works include for an 11m extension to the existing platform, facilitated by removing the existing platform ramp and providing access steps to the cess walkway to the rear of the platform. The works will also require the provision of 1 no additional lighting column. The 11m platform extension generally consists of Civil Engineering discipline works. The works relating to platform lighting adds an element of E&P discipline works. No works relating to signaling and Telecoms are required. The GRIP 4 Approved in Principal (AiP) Outline Design package for the works has been reviewed and accepted by Network Rail. The contractor will be required to deliver the Works (build only) in accordance with the GRIP 5 Approved for Construction (AFC) design package. It is not envisaged that this will differ greatly from the AiP design however, it is intended to appoint a the Contractor prior to the submission of the GRIP 5 design package to Network Rail in order to allow them to comment on the buildability of the final Design.
