20570 - PAS 128 Surveys for On-street EV Charging Infrastructure

Plymouth City Council has received funding through OLEV to install and monitor up to 50 on-street EV charging points. A key element of the project is site selection and careful utility surveying of the site to ensure it is a suitable location for EV chargers with no obstructions underground. The Council therefore requires a survey to identify possible underground utilities and obstructions prior to starting installation works on site. The Council has identified 20 potential sites that require surveying. The Council’s preference is for non-intrusive utility detection surveys to be undertaken in the form of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). If required subsequent trial holes can be undertaken. The detection survey should conform to PAS:128 standards with a high level of accuracy (Quality level B1) on which to base the decision for chargepoint installation. There is an expectation that assistance will be provided in the interpretation of results and that surveys provide flexibility in suitably citing the location of charging points and feeder pillars. Specific EV chargers have not yet been selected but it is anticipated that a depth of 450mm-900mm will be required for most models.
