Inspection and Installation of Suspended Items

Tender description

The Science Museum Group's extensive collections include over 200 exhibit items suspended from ceilings and walls across our sites. Items are suspended in galleries and stores at the Science Museum (London), National Railway Museum (York), Locomotion (Shildon), National Science and Media Museum (Bradford), and Science and Industry Museum (Manchester). Most of the suspended items are historic or contemporary objects within our collections, while others are artworks or interactive exhibits. The items vary in size, weight, material and fragility. Annual LOLER inspections are to be carried out on the groups Suspended Items. Where a new item is to be suspended, the service provider will act as the Science Museum Group's approved contractor and carryout the installation works.
