The Co-Ordination of a Deliberative Dialogue and Public Consultation survey on a Shared National Vision for Forests

The development of a shared national vision for the future of forests in Ireland and a new National Forest Strategy is a key priority for Project Woodland. Project Woodland was established in February 2021 by Minister of State, Pippa Hackett, and aims at addressing the future of forestry in Ireland. As part of the project, The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) wishes to engage citizens, stakeholders and interest groups to generate a shared vision and strategy for the future role of trees, woodlands and forests in Ireland. The objective of this project is to co-ordinate a deliberative dialogue between a randomly generated sample of people resident in Ireland to debate and discuss a shared national vision for Forests in Ireland. The project will have two distinct elements: 1. The management and analysis of a two-day Deliberative Dialogue which will include keynote speakers, breakout groups and decision making on high level statements on Forest policy. DAFM will provide keynote speakers. The two-day event will include bespoke focus groups / workshops with specific representative populations of persons resident in Ireland selected by the tenderer with input from DAFM. 2. Hosting a national public consultation survey and providing detailed academically robust analysis of the responses.
