SU24(22) Commercialising Innovation in Health

Tender description

We are interested to learn more about best practice in publicly provided health organisations globally, but particularly in the UK (including Wales) for creating value from enabling and accelerating the adoption of innovation, and exploiting Intellectual Property (including from innovation, knowledge, and skills). Value in this context meaning: - Efficiency, safety, and Health Outcomes for Patients - Economic development from supporting and developing the Foundational Economy - Income generation from the exploiting assets such as IP, technologies, innovation, knowledge, new ideas, and skills Information gathered from this exercise should help inform creating a model (or models), which enable health organisations to enable innovation and accelerate successful innovation adoption, generate and access income streams from expertise and knowledge. The NHS in Wales has long supported innovation. Innovations in practice, method, process, decision making, service delivery, or new skills as well as technologies such as software, gadgets, wearables, replacement body parts, devices… and more. Innovation in the NHS generates value by engaging staff, improving health outcomes for patients, quality of life outcomes for citizens, delivering service efficiencies and cost effectiveness, improving safety etc. Some innovation, in addition to creating value to patient and the community, has the potential to generate income for the NHS.
