Tender description

A requirement exists for the purchase of a new benchtop scanning electron microscope to increase the capabilities of the pilot manufacturing research facility. We require a ‘desktop’ or ‘benchtop’ SEM which is typically smaller in size than a standard SEM microscope but offers very similar capabilities. The required new SEM must have two types of detectors: - A Secondary Electron or ‘SE’ detector - A Back Scatter Detector or ‘BSD’ detector. The SEM should also have the following additional capabilities: - Capability to achieve Electron optcal magnification of up to 100000x with a variable accelerating voltage at least 15 KV but preferably 20 KV. - EDS capability for analysis of chemical compositions. A preferred - Low Vacuum mode with a separate vacuum pump with monitoring capabilities. - Full motorised movement of the stage would be desirable, with movement in the X and Y directions as well as tilt and rotation functions.
