Tender description

Meath County Council under the National Broadband Plan have supported the development of 16 Broadband Connection Points (BCPs) in Co. Meath. These BCPs are public locations which have been selected to receive high-speed connectivity in the first year of the National Broadband Plan. The locations include public areas such as community halls, sports facilities, enterprise hubs, tourist locations and other public spaces. The sites enable people living in the area to go to the location and access broadband for daily use including remote working, general access and communications with friends and family through video calling. Activities may include accessing training programmes, health consultations, facilitation of meetings (face-to-face and online), community education and personal study, attending online arts and cultural events and any other activity where access to the internet is required. To support the 16 sites in Co. Meath funding has been secured to improve facilities at the locations. Meath County Council therefore invites tenders for the supply of electronic locking and access control for up to 34 doors across 11 of these sites. Each site has a broadband connection with 150Mbs download and 30Mbs upload through an enet/Airspeed P2P back haul link to Vodafone data centres. The sites have ubiquity level 2 or level 3 switches providing connectivity to BCP WIFI Access Point and any peripheral equipment. The BCP WIFI network is not suitable for wireless connectivity at the sites as they require daily device re-authentication.
