Tender description

This research project is to test up to ten flocks for the five iceberg diseases (Johne’s, Maedi Visna (MV), Borders disease (BD), Ovine Paratuberculosis (OPA) and Caseous Lymphadenitis (CLA)) and for liver fluke. This will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1: farmers who express interest in the research will take a faecal sample to test for Johne’s and liver fluke in the Autumn of 2021 – which the supplier will support through co-ordinating the mailing of test packs, testing samples and analysing results and Phase 2: the supplier will co-ordinate the collection of blood samples to test for the other iceberg diseases on the selected farms in January and February 2022. Results from the research will be disseminated to industry to increase Welsh farmers knowledge and understanding of these potentially damaging – both financially and physically – diseases.
