The Arts Council /An Chomhairle Ealaíon is the Irish government agency for developing the arts. We work in partnership with artists, arts organisations, public policy makers and others to build a central place for the arts in Irish life. The Arts Council is guided by its Strategy “Making Great Art Work”. We set policy to ensure that all of our funding is spent strategically, that all of our actions reflect the long-term interests of the public and that all of our decisions are transparent and fair. We aim to have policies which are current and relevant and which reflect our role as an expert agency in the arts. Festivals are key producers and presenters of the arts and are critical to engaging large and diverse audiences. The Arts Council provides financial supports and developmental initiatives to a number of single artform and multidisciplinary arts festivals. In its role as the development agency for the arts the Arts Council provides developmental supports and initiatives for festivals. The Arts Council now wishes to appoint a Festivals and Events Adviser who will meet the needs of the organisation both from a quality and service delivery perspective. The advice sought is primarily to 1. appraise and assess funding applications 2. provide critical advice on work 3. assist in considering the scope of the specified funding application assessment work, 4. provide professional advice to the Head of Festivals and Events, including on the ongoing development of Arts Council policy and support related implementation strategies.
