LONDON BOROUGH OF REDBRIDGE DIGITAL MARKETING & TRADING Redbridge Council is working with businesses in the borough to support with their recovery and to help them address the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to periods of lockdown and socialising restrictions some businesses have had to find different ways of trading, some have been promoting their services using available online and digital channels, however some businesses require help adjusting to online methods of promotion or using the right channel depending of their business activity. The Economic Development team carried out several surveys and consultation activities during the lockdowns to understand the areas where businesses need support. Marketing and Promotion were identified by businesses that responded to the surveys as areas where they need support to connect with their existing customer base and to gain new customers. The Council Economic Development team have set up an online directory to create a place for business to promote their products and services and the number of businesses registered with the directory has increased since March 2020. However, to help businesses make the most of the directory and any other available resources, business owners will need support developing a plan to promote their products and services, and in some cases, make changes to their trading model. The team is looking to appoint a supplier that can work with businesses to help them develop a marketing plan, set up a channel to promote their products including the development of a marketplace, as a platform for businesses to sell their products online.
