Tender description

As part of The Uplands Development, a temporary pedestrian bridge is required adjacent Deer Park School to allow pupils safe access to the school, separated from construction traffic. The installation of the bridge was part of an enabling contract with Kier. The enabling works are complete. However the contract for the hire and periodic inspection of the bridge is being transferred to HCC until the end of the requirement. Continuing hire of the bridge is essential to current and ongoing works. Required well beyond the period of the current new build school construction project necessary for maintaining access for the wider development and at a considerably reduced long term hire rate. To re tender would incur a downtime during removal of current bridge, wait time for tender and the re installation of another bridge. This would cause additional cost to the wider project and an unacceptable level of delay to both the immediate and a domino effect to the delivery of the wider development project.
