Tender description

HMRC intend to award a concession contract to a single supplier for the United Kingdom's tobacco tracking and tracing system under the World Health Organization Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products. The UK has a current supplier who provides the services required to enable the continued tracking and tracing of tobacco products manufactured in or imported into the UK. Our current contract for this provision expires on 30th June 2022 and we are seeking a supplier to deliver this solution from 1st July 2022. The purpose of this Prior Information Notice is to alert interested parties and invite potential suppliers to a virtual engagement event on 14th June 2021.   The intention is to award a 5 year agreement. The UK ratified the WHO Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products in 2018. The Protocol requires parties to implement a traceability system for tobacco products manufactured in or imported into their territory, taking into account regional specific needs and available best practice. The provider's main responsibilities will be to deliver a: -ID issuer service, to ensure tobacco products manufactured in or imported into the UK are marked with a unique identifier -Data repository and router to store data relating to products and which is accessible to HMRC. Other services may be required as we continue to define the requirements during the tender process.
