Tender description

This resource, entitled #cleachdi Còmhla, will support Gaelic speakers to use the language in social contexts more regularly, whether online or in person. The contractor (and any sub-contractors) will create and host a new cleachdi.scot website on behalf of Bòrd na Gàidhlig. Bòrd na Gàidhlig will retain ownership of all resources created. The outputs which Bòrd na Gàidhlig seeks are as follows: Module 1 – Research Online Activity Research and map areas of activity online where Gaelic speakers are meeting and speaking Gaelic together. This can be either formally led conversation groups or more informal social gatherings. Identify gaps in provision. Module 2 – Research and map live activity Research and map out venues / areas of activity in Scotland where Gaelic speakers are meeting in person and speaking Gaelic together. This can be either formally led conversation groups or more informal social gatherings. Identify gaps in provision. Module 3 – International Context Research online initiatives from other language groups such as Irish, Welsh, Catalan which already offer conversation opportunities. Develop the #cleachdi Còmhla project for audiences in Scotland, Nova Scotia and further afield. Module 4 – Develop and Design Website In consultation with Bòrd na Gàidhlig, design an easy to use cleachdi.scot website which follows the brand guidelines of the #cleachdi initiative. It should comply with good practice and legal requirements for websites and should be built in such a way that another organisation could host and manage it in future. It should deliver the following: - General guidance on the #cleachdi initiative and portal to order #cleachdi materials (note that distribution of these materials is done by a third party) - Signpost to other Gaelic language resources available online. - A #cleachdi Còmhla portal which guides speakers to current online and offline conversation opportunities. The portal will also offer guidance to fluent speakers on setting up new activities including special interest conversation groups (e.g. football, baking, music, etc). Information will be sent to/collated by the webmaster and put online. - The site should also offer a service of a “buddy/mentor system” which will pair up speakers. Module 5 – Maintain Website and Resources Maintain the functionality and update the content of the cleachdi.scot website as well as the ongoing work surrounding the #cleachdi Còmhla initiative.
