Provision of HMPPS Criminology Masters

The Criminology Masters will be offered to all staff within Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service in a management or leadership grade and all will be free to apply subject to managerial approval. Learners will be selected from both operational and non-operational roles through an internal application and selection process. They may or may not already have degree level qualifications (Level 6) and there will likely be a number of learners per year who have been out of formal education for 20 years or longer. The provider will be expected to tailor support for such learners to enable them to learn. Learners will be subject to an internal selection process by HMPPS before accessing the qualification and may come from a wide range of backgrounds. Retaining talent within the business and giving employees a development opportunity that will continue to ensure that objectives are met across the business. The learning will be brought back into HMPPS and therefore the business will benefit as a whole.
