Network Rail’s Southern Region is considering how we might deploy technology solutions to operations staff involved in running the railway. This is to provide a better service to passengers, rail operators and users; by using technology to improve processes, information provision/presentation and communications, through tools that could aid situational awareness or offer decision-making support in complex disruption. We’re looking to understand what the market can offer in terms of digital tools or systems that could help, or for supplier(s) who could work with us and our users to develop them. We recognise there’s probably no ‘one-size fits all’ solution to meet our needs, so we are open to working with one or several suppliers, large or small, to deliver what we need. The tools or systems would need to be suitable for use in the safety and performance-focused railway environment and be supported throughout their proposed life. Early market engagement to understand how technology (either existing or to be developed) could be used to help operational staff with the day-to-day management of railway traffic and incident/disruption management across Southern Region.
