Tender description

Contracts have been awarded for the T level professional development support: strand 4 knowledge hubs invitation to tender. The technical education reforms are a systemic change and an opportunity to create opportunities for learners to thrive in a competitive labour market by developing the skills that are valued by employers. The reforms have created a technical education option that sits alongside the academic option (e.g. A levels) for post-16 learners. Under the technical option, occupations with shared training requirements have been grouped together into 15 technical education routes. New level 3 classroom-based technical study programmes – T levels – have been created for each occupation or cluster of occupations within a route (referred to as pathways). This tender was for strand 4 of the T level professional development offer. The focus of this work provides support for technical teachers, trainers, middle managers and leaders to embed learning and maximise the impact of CPD delivered in Strands 2, 3 and 5 of the T level professional development offer. Contracts have been awarded to support technical teachers to prepare for T level delivery through regional knowledge hub activity. The short term aim of this work supports technical teachers, trainers, middle managers and leaders to embed learning from strands 2, 3 and 5 of the T level professional development offer through regional networks and route, pathway and subject specialist workshops and additionally collaboratively activities, working closely with industry experts and professional bodies. The longer term intended impact is that young people undertaking T levels develop the knowledge, skills, behaviours and competencies required, and understand how they are applied in the occupation they want to progress into. Strand 4 work is being delivered in 3 work streams, split in to 2 phases: Work stream 1: regional networks and route, pathway and subject specific knowledge hub activities Phase 1: scoping, development and establishment of knowledge hubs; Phase 2: delivery of knowledge hubs. Work stream 2: Teacher regional improvement projects (TRIPs) Phase 1: scoping and development for collaborative projects; Phase 2: management and facilitation of collaborative projects. Work stream 3: Sharing effective practice This tender was for work streams 1 and 2 only. A separate tender was issued for work stream 3.
