Tender description
The client is Wolverhampton City Council trading as the City of Wolverhampton Council (CWC), delivering new council housing developments. This is a high profile activity for CWC and the selection of appropriate supply partners is critical to its success. The delivery of good quality, cost effect housing is key to achieving the client's aspirations. The client intends to proceed with procuring the design and construction of Phase 1 of the HRA council housing which is a total of around 40 No new housing units over 4 sites (Ref. HRA 1, 2, 3 and 6 – respectively Hobgate Road sites A, B, C and Tithe Croft), inclusive of all statutory services, S278 works improvements, external works and drainage connections. City of Wolverhampton Council is delivering new council housing development on a number of sites across the Heath Town Estate, Heath Town Ward, Wolverhampton, for management by the Councils Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO), Wolverhampton Homes. The Heath Town masterplan sets out to deliver a large-scale regeneration of this 1960’s built estate. The proposed changes consist of targeted demolition, new build infill housing of mixed tenure, upgrading the security, performance and appearance of the remaining estate blocks, an upgrade of existing sports pitches, development of new play areas and a small football pitch and environmental works. The intention is to transform the appearance and perception of the estate and improve the setting for both new and existing homes there. The overall plan is to develop a total of approximately 300 new housing units on the estate; this is made up of 94 units of the Council’s affordable housing; 108 units of WV Living’s market sale, market rent and sale to the Council for sale under a shared ownership arrangement; around 100 units on 3 sites at the south end that the Council will put on sale to private developers. This procurement is for the design and construction of Phase 1 of the HRA council housing which is a total of around 40 No new housing units over 4 sites (Ref. HRA 1, 2, 3 and 6 – respectively Hobgate Road sites A, B, C and Tithe Croft), inclusive of all statutory services, S278 works improvements, external works and drainage connections.
