West Yorkshire Combined Authority procured further coverage of NGA broadband infrastructure capable of delivering download speeds of at least 30 Megabits per second (Mbps) in areas within its programme area where such broadband is currently unavailable. Geographically, the contract covers the five West Yorkshire local authorities (Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Calderdale and Kirklees) and the City of York. West Yorkshire Combined Authority intended to procure further coverage of NGA broadband infrastructure capable of delivering download speeds of at least 30 Megabits per hour (Mbps) in areas within its programme area where such broadband is currently unavailable. Geographically, the procurement for lot 1 was going to cover the five West Yorkshire local authorities (Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Calderdale and Kirklees) and the City of York excluding Leeds, Bradford and York city centres and excluding DEFRA's defined Rural areas. The Combined Authority re-investment funds for the extension of the NGA broadband in West Yorkshire and York and the Combined Authority's ERDF match bid were allocated (total GBP 3.144 million), however there were no bids and therefore no contract awarded for this lot. Geographically, the contract for lot 2 covers areas within the five West Yorkshire local authorities (Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Calderdale and Kirklees) and the City of York, defined within DEFRA's Rural Broadband Infrastructure Scheme. The Combined Authority was awarded GBP 6.898 million from DEFRA Rural Broadband Infrastructure (RBI) fund for this lot.
