Summary of the work A Lead Cloud Architect is required to lead the design and strategy of a critical Commodity Cloud Platform build. Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length The initial statement of work will have a six month term. The contract can have a two-year term. Latest start date Thursday 12 November 2020 Maximum Day Rate £800. The role is at the SFIA 5 level. Who Speclialist Work With The specialist will be working within PPPT as a Lead Architect engaging with the Chief Technology Officer's office on design. The specialist will need to engage with members of the Law Enforcement Tenants, the existing Police Live Services team and with the programme’s Delivery Partners as necessary. To deliver some of the design work, external stakeholder engagement should be expected. What Specialists Work On The specialist will define the tactical and strategic direction of a critical platform build and tenants’ migration project. Skills & Experience • Demonstrable experience in technically leading strategic and tactical projects and/or programmes within the past 2 years. • Demonstrable expert knowledge of building a platform on Commodity Cloud. • Demonstrable experience in architecting Commodity Cloud IaaS and/or PaaS solutions from the ground up within the past 2 years. • Demonstrable expert knowledge of Linux, specifically Redhat within the past 2 years. • Demonstrable knowledge of the following Harshicorp products. Vault, Consul, Terraform within the past 2 years. • Demonstrable expert knowledge of DNS and Route53. • Demonstrable expert knowledge of specific AWS products. CloudHSM, Transit Gateway, Control Tower, AWS Organization, Service Catalog, Security Hub (or similar). • Demonstrable knowledge of F5 and Palo Alto. • Designing AWS (or similar) cloud security solution for highly secure national system. • Implementing AWS (or similar) cloud security solution. • Creating cloud migration designs and migrating client environment. • AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional or similar certification. • AWS Certified Developer or similar certification. • AWS Security Speciality Certified or similar certification. • CISSP or working towards certification. Nice to Haves • Demonstrable experiences working with encryption or data and network traffic. • Demonstrable working practice of DevOps tools. • Knowledge of Police IT Systems or similar Public Sector systems. Work Location The primary location is the Hendon Datacentre, Aerodrome Road, Colindale London, NW9 5JE. Other London sites will include Croydon and 2 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DF. The Specialist will be Home based during Covid 19 restrictions. Working Arrangments A typical working day is 9am-5pm, however working outside of these hours may be required due to business/project need. Remote working is acceptable, supported by a Home Office laptop to enable collaboration and sensitive material to be exchanged. Some meetings can be by conference call, but significant design meetings are expected to be face-to-face at a Home Office location or partner visit. Existing Subject Matter Experts located in Croydon or Hendon will provide most of the information on the architectures and requirements. The role is outside IR35. Security Clearance SC or ability to be SC cleared. Additional T&Cs Travel expenses are payable for journeys outside the M25 where approved in advance by the customer and in line with Home Office Travel policy (subsistence is not payable). Day rates will be in line with the Home Office "Project Optimus" requirements.
