Tender description
The Fort Regent Cavern (‘the Cavern’) acts as a detention/balancing tank, receiving unscreened overflows of sewage/storm water (possibly contaminated with seawater). The Cavern facility was constructed c.1995 within the rock of the hillside under Fort Regent. The bottom of the cavern is more than 50m below ground access. A survey of the steel/GRP accesses carried out in 2019, identified a number of defects of varying degrees of criticality in many of the steel elements. It is required to address these defects in order to extend the life of the accesses by a further 20 years to at least 2041. The scope of this contract is to carry out the necessary refurbishment works to these accesses to achieve the required life.
