Tender description

The contracting authority (on behalf of itself and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing ('KNH') established a dynamic purchasing system (DPS) for the provision of learning (which includes but is not limited to classroom learning/e-learning) which falls under the remit of our internal training provision (the services). There are 5 categories for this DPS: Category 1: management development; Category 2: personal skills; Category 3: coaching; Category 4: outplacement support; Category 5: ad-hoc training requirements. This is a further competition from Category 5 of this DPS. Kirklees Council have worked with the communities to encourage the support we needed and have worked hard in the last few years to recruit volunteers. We now have many more volunteers than staff with around 500 active volunteers supporting the Library service. Staff have been required to adapt during this time without any skills development. We are looking to: — give staff skills/confidence to challenge and support a diverse range of volunteers, — support volunteers to develop confidence in themselves and be more comfortable to be challenged and willing to stretch themselves, — encourage, promote and support positive behaviour and attitudes, — give the staff skills to empower volunteers to do more for themselves, — assist staff in stepping back and encouraging volunteers to take ownership, — for staff to be proactive but not scare volunteers off, — help staff build and maintain good relationships with the volunteers they are working with and help staff support volunteers to build and maintain good relationships with each other, and — ensure staff feel confident to develop and equip volunteers in providing a high level of service. Our requirements — an intervention to develop staff understanding of working with volunteers and how to equip the volunteers with the tools they need to work on their own, — interactive and engaging intervention, — practical elements that allows participants to practice techniques within the session, — pre-course engagement (e.g. pre-course thinking), — post-course activity to embed the learning (e.g. reflection work), — provider to provide all relevant training materials, and — to be better equipped to ensure that volunteers feel supported during all aspects of their journey and better understand the Libraries and wider Council ambitions and outcomes.
